Virtual Classroom Training - Open Source GIS Integration Training Course

Cadline

[product-detail]

Our training task group has been working hard on optimising our current training courses for remote delivery. The technology that we use to deliver these courses has been specifically designed to ensure that the learning experience is just as effective as if you are in one of our training centres. The same experienced instructors that deliver our classroom courses deliver our virtual ones too. We limit the number of attendees to six so that each one receives the right amount of individual support and attention. We are even able to observe how each attendee is progressing with the exercises we set them and steer them in the right direction when they need our help.

What do you get?

  • An instructor led training course, delivered across the web, packed with interactive demonstrations, hands-on exercises and plenty of time to ask questions.

You will require an internet connection and a web browser to connect to our online courses.

No previous CAD experience is necessary. However, drafting, design or engineering experience would be an advantage.

It is also recommended that delegates have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows.

Delegates should have some experience using GIS software and knowledge of GIS concepts is preferential.

This two-day intensive course introduces you to the core functionality of PostGIS, QGIS, GeoServer and OpenLayers, taking you through all the tools you will need to load, spatially analyse, publish and share geospatial data. This course is designed specifically by Open Source GIS software specialists to demonstrate how to setup and successfully utilise Open Source GIS, spatial databases and web mapping services in an integrated environment.

The course is delivered using instructor-led real world examples where you learn by ‘doing’.

The course covers topics including, installation and configuration of all software, loading vector data into a spatial database, connecting to a spatial database and then undertaking GIS analysis, manipulating spatial data, publishing and connecting to WMS and WFS services and utilising OpenLayers to explore web mapping capabilities.

The entire software portfolio is offered on a scheduled, private or customised basis at any of our dedicated training centres in seven locations across the UK.

Each of our training suites is laid out classroom style for a maximum of 6 delegates. This class size ensures that the pace of the course is not adversely affected, learning is maximised and there is enough individual time for everyone with the trainer. Each person will have their own PC with the appropriate course software installed and will be given a copy of any relevant course material.

Lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the course.

The training room itself was perfect for our needs. All in all a very good course.

The trainer was excellent (David Crowther) and he was able to tailor the instruction to suit all of the attendees needs. He answered all of our questions whilst still keeping to the course syllabus. He made us all feel very comfortable and explained everything we needed to know in just the right amount of detail. The course documentation was very good and easy to follow. The training room itself was perfect for our needs. All in all a very good course.
